WWII quonset hut, remodeled with all modern conveniences.  This quonset has the best view that can be enjoyed from the in closed porch off the bedroom or on the back deck that includes a charcoal bbq. It is bright and cheerfully decorated with lots of special additions (stained glass & mosaics). The bathroom has a heated towel bar. The living area was a wonderful massage chair. The sofa and chair are new, large and spacious, you may not want to leave them to go to bed. For sleeping there is a queen bed in the bedroom, 1 futon sofa in the back room off the bedroom and a queen air bed that can be used in the living area. A fully equipped (coffee pot, toaster, dishes, pots and pans, etc) kitchen and private bath (with a shower). Both units have a full kitchen, separate sleeping areas, TV, internet, deck with charcoal bbq and a uniqueness of its own.  Create real memories by enjoying a truly historical stay in Seward.

Reason for names? This was not planned. The Sunshine Hut’s bed is the sun. The Moonshine Hut has a stain glass piece featuring the moon. (no sorry, there is not a moonshine still in the hut)

Looking for something different? These original WWII quonset huts were the first homes for many people first moving to Seward in the 1940’s. BUT do not let that fool you, they have been completely remodeled and are very comfortable. As my friend told me that came to Alaska in the 1940’s he would still be living in a quonset hut if the one he had lived in when he first came to Seward was as nice as these. Alaska’s Point of View WWII Quonset Hut, offers a queen bed in the bedroom (the blocks around the bottom have a soft indirect night light that will help you find your slippers or the bathroom in the middle of the night) and 2 pull out sofas in the living area that fold into double beds. A fully equipped (coffee pot, toaster, blender, dishes, pots and pans, etc) kitchen and private bath (with a shower). 2020 newly remodeled with dish washer, new floor, new expanded bathroom. New bathroom now allows access from the bedroom or livingroom.

It is located one block from the bay. With a large deck and charcoal BBQ so you can enjoy the great views of Resurrection Bay and surrounding mountains while relaxing and cooking up dinner. Yes, the city’s maintenance department is located between our quonset and the awesome views you will enjoy. Please look over the city of Seward’s poor placement of their maintenance department, the great view is still there and no one can take it away.

There is a flat screen tv in the living area with cable tv. In the bedroom there is an older tv with a VCR player and plenty of wonderful videos. The internet is great and works well.

Originally this WWI quonset hut was built for lodging for the USO entertainers that came to entertain the troops. So far the one famous movie star that I have heard of that stayed there was Loren BaCall. Of course it has been updated and given out special touch to make to another Alaska’s Point of View memory maker.

We hope you will also enjoy our creative decor from unicorn spit kitchen cabinets to stained glass bathroom and entry door to other interesting art works. You will find these units to be very spacious with a big plus of our on demand hot water. No problem, you will never run out.

The studio suite is for the guest who is looking for an extra special getaway offering romance and a very relaxing atmosphere, (costing less than a hotel room).  Upon entering your room, you are immediately enchanted with custom artwork specially designed for the room.  Because it only has one queen bed, we limit it to a two people.

Before retiring for the evening, enjoy the jacuzzi built for two surrounded by a custom mural of Alaskan flowers, trees, mountains and a family of loons enjoying a peaceful swim on a still pond. (No worries, yes, there is a shower in the bathroom.)

Set your mood with a CD that will serenade you with the call of the loon and other relaxing natural wildlife sounds. Then sit on the love seat couch and be mesmerized by the gas fireplace that will keep you toasty warm. Or enjoy the massage chair.

You’ll be ready for a deep sleep on our special heat-sensitive memory foam mattress on your queen size bed that helps to reduce stress on your body’s pressure points.

The kitchenette is furnished with dishes, microwave, coffee pot and a small refrigerator for your special goodies. Also you will find cereals, juices, coffees, teas, hot chocolate, popcorn and other extras.  (Don’t forget the charcoal barbeque off the deck!)

In the morning, enjoy the sunlight as it peeps through the stained glass window that boasts the northern lights over Alaskan mountains with a bear in the foreground taking it all in. In the living room, there  is a fold down sofa (the old fashion type). At less than the price of a hotel room, you have the privacy of two separate sleeping areas.  Plus an electric fireplace, massage chair and free internet.

Also enjoy TV in the living area and a small tv in the bedroom that works with VCR tapes which are supplied. You can hook up your computer or you are welcome to use mine for email or faxing. Bedroom includes: a beautiful hand made wooden bed, room darkening curtains, extra pillows & blankets, fan, heater, closet to hang clothes and luggage racks. The bedroom walls are filled with Alaskan Eskimo masks and crafts. Before hopping into the queen size bed, sit in the massage chair that will help you relax before snuggling in for a deep sleep on our special heat-sensitive memory foam mattress that helps to reduce stress on your body’s pressure points.

Our newest addition is the Lodge. Built it in 2018. There are 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. Offering a great view, kitchen, spacious living area, big deck and comfort for a large group of people. Three bedrooms have a queen and twin bed on the main floor. Two bedrooms have one queen bed each and located upstairs. Kitchen includes dishes, pots & pans, utensils, side by side refrig, stove, dish washer and a large dining table.  Kitchen and living room located upstairs.

Full of unique art work.  Many of the doors are rolling barn doors.  Vaulted ceiling. 

Located one block from the bay and between the downtown and the boat harbor which is an one mile area.  The free shuttle bus traveling around town stops a short distance from the lodge.  It is between our two quonset huts.  So if you have additional people, that can stay close by and enjoy some real Seward history.  We prefer to have a 4 night minimum.
